This is a brief written and video tutorial on how to download youtube videos and use them as screensavers that work on the Microsoft Windows XP and Vista operating systems.
STEP 1 - DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE SOFTWARE THAT IS NEEDED
You will need 2 different software applications to do this - all of them are freeware.
You will need -
Instantstorm screensaver builder - instantstorm.com / download.com page / direct download
DVDVideosoft Freestudio - homepage / download page
When you install DVDVideosoft Freestudio it will automatically install 20 separate freeware programs.
We will be using 2 of them in this tutorial - Free Youtube Download + Free Video to Flash Converter
STEP 2 - DOWNLOAD AND CONVERT THE YOUTUBE VIDEO THAT YOU WANT AS A SCREENSAVER
Highlight, copy and paste all of the youtube video url into the DVDVideosoft youtube downloader and convert it into any of the video formats available.
The format you convert it to is irrelevant as you will be converting it again into another format.
STEP 3 - CONVERT THE CONVERTED YOUTUBE VIDEO FILE TO .SWF FORMAT
Convert the output file from DVDVideosoft Youtube downloader into a .swf (shockwave flash file) using the DVDVideosoft Free Video to Flash Converter.
STEP 4 - USE THE .SWF FILE TO CREATE A SCREENSAVER
Open up Instantstorm and use the .swf file you have just created to make a screensaver.
The instantstrom interface has a "wizard" option that is extremely easy to use and the "advanced" option allows you to create an installation screen for your screensaver.
STEP 5 - INSTALL / UNINSTALL THE SCREENSAVER
Instantstorm will create an installer that will install the screesaver as your default screensaver.
To uninstall the screen saver just go to Control Pannel > Add or Remove Programs and look for the screensaver to uninstall it |
