Not all of the best applications have to paid for. There are a huge amount of quality freeware applications out there that are that are just as good, if not better than, the paid-for alternatives.

Electric Sheep is a free, open source screen saver created by Scott Draves. When these computers "sleep", the screen saver comes on and the computers communicate with each other by the internet to share the work of creating morphing abstract animations known as "sheep".
